sweet sweet moment

Last night I had the honor of reading to my son, Tristan, my book, Extra Special. You would think by now that I would have read it to him, but every time we read (everyday) he has his favorites that he wants to pick out. I love that he loves to read so when he says no to my suggestions, I just go with it. Well, last night, for the first time, Tristan wanted to read Extra Special! I was really curious as to how he would respond to it. I have never read it to anyone!! I was so happy that he loved it! I think he mostly just like the soccer balls on each page because he kept talking about kicking it in the goal, but that is ok! I will take it! He was really excited about the illustrations.... Thanks, Frank! There is nothing greater than seeing your child excited about books :) It was just a sweet moment for me...

Thank you, Brandermill Church!

Thank you, Brandermill Church for hosting such an amazing "Dare to Dream" event! The event was centered around local Christian authors of all ages, coming together to share  their "story" of how they became writers. I was honored to be able to attend such an event! Since I have just had my first book published, it was awesome to speak with other authors to hear how their journey has been. I got to hear about book talks and signings and promotions etc. It was really awesome! On top of that, after the formal part, they had a meet and greet where  we got to talk with people and sell/sign books. It was really a nice morning.

Thank you so so much to those of you who came out to support the event and especially to those of you who came to support me. It meant to much to see family, high school friends, college friends and current co-workers take their Saturday morning to come out. THANK YOU. As I have mentioned before, "promoting" myself/my book has been hard for me because well, lets face it, you have to sell yourself. That is a tough thing for me to do! But, my family and friends are the BEST. I could not ask for better people in my life. God has blessed me RICHLY though these people, and for that, I am forever grateful.

In HIM I am thankful for all things.... big and little!

Next Book Signing!

The next book signing I will be doing is going to be at the Brandermill Church on February 5th. I am so excited! This is the church that I was raised in and married in. It is a special place that means a lot to me so I am thrilled that they invited me to join them for their first annual book signing event. I will be one of two children's authors and there will be 4 other authors there as well. All of the authors are local. One of the ladies has written tons of books, but I will tell you more after the 5th. I hope you are all able to make it out!

Success!

Saturday was my first ever book signing for Extra Special! As you know, there was a lot of hooplah trying to get the signing to happen due to printing issues and the weather issues we have been having. Josh Simpson was a HUGE help in making this day successful! He got everything set up for me at the Daily Grind, hung posters all over his church and he handed out fliers to all of the children in the children's ministry on several difference occasions. THANK YOU, JOSH!!

The signing itself went really well. I really enjoyed being able to hang out with people and sign their books. The support that I have from friends and family is amazing!

Thank you to all who have supported me in any way! I truly appreciate you more than you know!

My website business, Solid Rock Children's Books, has taken on a new look! I am so excited about this. My good friend, Jimmy Maddox, is a graphic design goo-ru and he has helped me tremendously to get the look I was going for. I hope that people like it!
